The Kansas City Current have secured a position in the NWSL postseason for the third year in a row. The club clinched the berth on Sunday night with a 2-0 win over Racing Louisville FC at CPKC Stadium.

Dozens of supporters gathered at Current Landing outside the stadium to watch the match live. The crowd cheered as the final whistle confirmed the team’s advancement. This marks the third consecutive season the club has reached the playoffs.

Three key elements defined the reaction to the result. First, regular attendees viewed the win as a resolution to a difficult start. Second, season ticket holders described the match as a routine part of their weekend. Third, new residents cited the team as a tool for community integration.

Christina, a fan present at the watch party, noted the team’s recovery from early setbacks. “They’ve really turned it around and made a comeback, and it’s really awesome to see all the work that’s been put in,” she said. Ashley, another supporter, recalled the anxiety of the early season. “It’s been a roller coaster. Hard start. It was scary losing Vladko. That was a little bit of a hard situation,” Ashley said.

Enrique and Lauren, who hold season tickets, attended the game as part of their standard routine. “We are season ticket members, so we just love being here," Lauren said. "We’re here every weekend, so it felt like the right thing to do to come and support the girls.” The couple moved to Kansas City from another area and found the club helpful for social connection. “We’re actually transplants to Kansas City," Enrique said. "We fell in love with this team when we moved here, and it’s been a really great way to meet other people and be out in the community.”

The Current will face Angel City FC in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday at CPKC Stadium. Angel City is the fifth seed in the league. Tickets for the match are currently available for purchase. The winner of the game advances to the next stage of the tournament.

Missy Jenkins, senior vice president of commercial operations for the Current, asked fans to attend the home game. “We would love to see all the fans out here next week to watch us take home the win,” she said. The team aims to maintain its home advantage during the playoff run.
