Baltimore residents will enjoy a warm Friday before a drop in temperatures arrives with a weak cold front.

The National Weather Service forecast shows afternoon highs climbing into the mid and upper 70s on Friday. This will be the warmest day of the workweek. The area has seen a stretch of pleasant fall weather that began with morning temperatures in the 40s and lower 50s on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon temperatures peaked near 70 degrees under clear skies.

Wednesday brought more clouds but remained dry. Thursday is expected to deliver sunny conditions with afternoon highs in the lower 70s. The weather pattern will shift later Friday or early Saturday as a weak cold front crosses the region. The forecast remains dry as the front moves through, though high clouds will increase on Halloween afternoon. Saturday temperatures are projected to peak in the upper 60s and lower 70s. People planning to go trick-or-treating on Saturday should prepare for highs in the upper 50s and 60s.

Fall foliage across Maryland is currently at a moderate stage in central areas and the Baltimore metro. The dry and sunny conditions are supporting the color change. Experts expect peak color to occur within the next week or two, which aligns with the seasonal average.

Sunday marks the end of daylight saving time. Clocks fall back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The sunrise will be earlier at 6:34 a.m. and the sunset will occur at 5:05 p.m. Sunday weather will be mostly cloudy with a chance of spotty rain later in the day.

A larger pattern change is expected as November begins. Several rounds of wetter weather are possible in the first workweek of November. The region remains in a drier than normal state, so additional rain is needed.
