The Kansas City Chiefs face a pivotal test this week as they travel to Denver for their second meeting with the Broncos this season. The game follows a disappointing performance for Kansas City against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Chiefs entered this week as a 5-1 team after falling to Seattle on Sunday night. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was limited to 165 passing yards and threw one interception in that loss. The offense also scored just three points, a career low for Mahomes, and failed to reach the red zone for the first time in his career.
Denver enters the matchup at 5-2 after beating Kansas City 31-10 in Week 1. Mahomes holds a 39-8 career record against AFC West opponents. However, his track record in Denver is less impressive, as he is 6-2 in eight starts at the venue. He has lost his last two trips to Empower Field.
The Chiefs are 3-0 against division rivals this season. They defeated the Raiders in Week 4 and the Chargers in Week 6. This week's result will directly impact their chances to win the AFC West division title.
Two key starters are questionable for the game. Wide receiver Rashee Rice is dealing with a hamstring injury, and right tackle Jaylon Moore is recovering from a concussion. Both players missed the action against Seattle.
The game is scheduled for Sunday at 3:25 p.m. CT. The contest will air on KCTV5 in the local viewing area.
