A small disturbance moving through the mountains is bringing additional cloud cover to southern Colorado on Tuesday, though sunshine continues to punch through. The pattern is keeping temperatures above average for this time of year. Residents along Interstate 25 are seeing highs in the 60s and 70s, while winds remain calm at 5 to 10 mph.
In Colorado Springs, the morning low sits at 39 degrees. The afternoon high will reach 68 degrees. Upper-level clouds will move in during the afternoon, but the city remains dry. Pueblo starts colder at 37 degrees, with a high of 72 degrees. Canon City is warmer, with a low of 41 degrees and a high of 69 degrees. Woodland Park and the Tri-Lakes region, including Monument, will see highs of 60 and 63 degrees, respectively. Morning lows in these areas hover in the upper 30s.
The eastern plains maintain dry conditions with highs in the 70s and lows in the 30s and 40s. The southern I-25 corridor, including Walsenburg and Trinidad, sees lows in the lower 40s. Afternoon highs in these towns reach the upper 60s and lower 70s. Mountain areas are colder, with lows below freezing and highs in the 50s and 60s. No moisture is currently forecast for the high country today.
The extended outlook shows little change for the coming days. Highs will stay in the 60s through the week. A low-pressure system approaches over the weekend, which could introduce moisture to the I-25 corridor. If this system interacts with incoming colder air, more areas could receive snow. Sunday highs are expected to drop into the 50s, with temperatures continuing to fall into the start of next week.
Meteorologists note that the forecast for the weekend system can still change. The current track suggests a mix of dry and potentially wet conditions depending on the timing of the cold air arrival. No new storms are expected before the weekend shift begins.
