One voting location in Archuleta County is no longer a valid drop-off point for mail ballots because of ongoing flooding risks in Southwest Colorado.
The Colorado Department of State announced the change to guide voters toward safe alternatives before the 7:00 p.m. closing time on Election Day. While the specific location list was provided to voters, the state clarified that voting hours and sites in Conejos, La Plata, Montezuma, and Rio Grande counties remain unaffected by the weather event.
Eligible voters in Archuleta County who have not yet cast their vote can request a replacement ballot at any voter center in the state. If a voter goes to a center within their home county, they will receive a ballot containing all local contests. Archuleta voters also have a specific option to visit the Pine River Library in Bayfield to access a full local ballot.
Voters who go to a voter center outside their home county can vote a replacement ballot, but it will only include statewide races. Those with access to their original mail ballot can return it to any drop box or voter center across the state by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. The state guarantees these ballots will reach the county clerk for signature verification and tabulation.
Residents unable to vote in person or return their mail ballot due to flood conditions can request an emergency ballot online. The Department of State directs voters to myballot.coloradosos.gov to complete this process. A complete list of voter center and drop box locations is available on the state elections website, where users can enter their current address to find nearby options.
Voters with specific questions can contact their County Clerk for assistance. Contact information for all county election offices is listed on the state’s resources page.
